SUPERfood Dark Chocolate Bark
This is the chocolate that is good to indulge in and even aid in hormone imbalance, so when PMS comes around, give in to this craving, and enjoy whole foods that support your body.
Chocolate bark inspired my Sarah Britton's Night sky:
1/2 cup plus 2 table spoons of Coconut oil
2 tablespoons of raw honey
1/2 cup of raw cocao powder
Few squares of organic dark chocolate
1 tablespoon of maca powder
1/4 teaspoon of sea salt
1/4 cup of goji berries
2 tablespoons of hemp seeds
1 tablespoon of bee pollen
1/4 cup of raw pumpkin seeds
2 tablespoons of turmeric
In double boiler melt coconut oil and dark chocolate squares together. Add the honey and whisk, remove from the heat and add cocao powder, sea salt, maca and half the turmeric.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, take half the goji berries, bee pollen, pumpkin and hemp seeds and scatter them on the sheet. Let the chocolate cool a bit, then pour over to cover the seeds, sprinkle the remaining half of the superfoods over the top of chocolate. Pop the baking sheet in the freezer and chill for at least 30 minutes.
When the chocolate has cooled, break into bars and wrap up in a freezer bag to store up to 2 months.
Cocao: High is Magnesium, aids the body, calms muscles and reduces stress hormones.
Coconut Oil: Healthy fat, that supports hormone production, balances blood sugar and boosts metabolism.
Raw Honey: Increases Immunity and is a nutrient rich sweetener.
Goji Berries: Fertility superfood and rich in antioxidants.
Turmeric: Anti-Inflammatory go to, a natural pain killer, improves liver function and circulation.
Hemp: Complete protein to stabilize blood sugar, and high in Omega 3's to improve moods.
Pumpkin Seeds: High in Zinc to strengthen immunity and rich in phytoestrogens.
Bee Pollen: Nourishes the ovaries and rich in iron, depleted during menstruation.
Maca: Hormone balancing and aphrodisiac effects, as well as boosts energy.
